Is Microsoft waffling on their June 30 cutoff date to end the availability of Windows XP?

Maybe. Recent talks with computer vendors may indicate Microsoft is softening their position that they will not allow computer manufacturers (like Dell, HP, Compaq, etc) to offer Windows XP after June 30. Service Pack 3 for Windows XP, which has been promised for a while is to be released sometime in April. There are consistent reports that Service Pack 3 for Windows XP improves speed and performance by around 10%. If you are planning on buying a new PC with Windows XP, you should still plan on making the purchase before June 30, in case Microsoft decides to stick with this cutoff date. If Microsoft formally extends the cutoff date on the availability of Windows XP, we will post that information here. As an independent OEM system builder, ACCS will be able to sell computers with Windows XP installed through January 2009.
